Drive in/ fly out > Suggested Itinerary:
Day 01:
(Wed) Drive Kathmandu (1300m) to Zhangmu (2500 m, 123 km)
Early morning scenic drive to Kodari (Nepal-Tibet border)
through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and start a short
walk (approx. one & a half hrs.) uphill with porters
to Zhangmu. After immigration formalities at the check-post
we drive (1.5 hrs) to Zhangmu.Stay overnight at Zhangmu.
Day 02:
(Thurs) Drive Zhangmu to Shegar (4350m, 244 km)
Day drive to uphill to highest plateau of the world with
the typical view of Tibetan landscape offering sheer feeling
of standing on the roof of the world crossing over Nyalam
pass (3800m.) and Lalung La (5050m.) if we weather permits
we can view breathing panorma of the beautiful Himalayan
ranges including Mt Everest (8848m.) but dwarfed by the
vastness of the Tibetan plateau. Stay overnight at Shegar
Day 03:
(Fri) Drive Shegar to Shigatse (3900m, 244 km) Continue
scenic drive crossing over Gyatchu La (5220m.) the highest
pass en route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a road to Mt.
Kailash bifurcates to the west. On the way we visit Shakya
Monastery. Stay overnight at Shigatse
Day 04:
(Sat) Drive Shigatse to Gyantse (3950m, 90 km) Morning sightseeing
tour of Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Monastery and Market
in Shigatse. Drive to Gyantse and visit the Kumbum Stupa
& Phalkor Monastery. Stay overnight at Gyantse
Day 05:
(Sun) Drive Gyantse to Lhasa (3650m, 261 km)
Full day picturesque drive crossing over Karo La (5010m.),
Kamba La (4794m.), colorful Yamdrok Lake and Tibetan lifeline
river Brahma Putra (Yarlung Tsangpo). Stay overnight at
Lhasa
Day 06-07: (Mon) Lhasa
Two full days sightseeing tour in Lhasa including Jokhang
temple, Barkhor Bazar, Potala Palace, Drepung and Sera Monasteries.
Suggested Itinerary: Day 01:
(Sat) Kathmandu (1100m)-Lhasa (3600m)
Fly to Lhasa crossing over the panoramic Himalayan ranges.
Transfer to hotel. Full day rest for acclimatization
Day 02-03:
(Sun-Mon) In Lhasa
Two full days sightseeing tour in Lhasa including Jokhang
temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Potala Palace, Drepung and Sera Monasteries.
